Review: Teen Beach Movie Soundtrack on CD
I posted late last week about the new Disney made-for-TV movie Teen Beach Movie, which premiered on Friday evening and I have to admit that my 6 year old twin girls and I all loved it. Sadly we did not have any way to record it or I just know we would have been watching the film again and again.
It was just as I expected - full of cheesy tunes and pretty, shiny clean characters. One of the reasons I like Disney so much is that the films and TV programs they run are wholesome and not full of bad attitude and poor language like so many things aimed at kids nowadays.
We were sent the soundtrack to review and we played this all week prior to the movie being aired. The music makes you feel summery, happy and ready to party on the beach. It reminds me of 1950/60's tunes with a modern twist.
There are 12 songs plus 3 bonus tracks on the CD, they are -
1. Oxygen
2. Surf crazy (Miss E's favourite)
3. Cruisin' for a bruisin' (Miss M's favourite)
4. Falling for Ya
5. Meant to be (My favourite)
6. Like me
7. Meant to be (Reprise 1)
8. Can't stop singing
9. Meant to be (Reprise 2)
10. Surf's up
11. Coolest Cats in Town
12. Surf Crazy Finale
Bonus tracks:
13. Cruisin' for a bruisin' (Instrumental Version)
14. Falling for Ya (Instrumental Version)
15. Surf's up (Instrumental Version)
I'll tell you what - clear up time got a whole lot easier when we cranked the tunes up loud and we all sang and partied our way through tidy up time. I have heard the songs coming from the girls bedroom on a number of occasions so far and I caught them with hairbrush in hand this morning introducing one another as the new stars of the show! I just love their make believe and this CD is helping with that - perfect!
Have a listen to a couple of tracks yourself and see what you think -
You can purchase the tunes on iTunes or I see the CD is available on Amazon (with a free download too) for just £9.00.
Disclosure: We received this CD free of charge for the purpose of this review.

Will you be watching Teen Beach Movie tomorrow?
My twin girls are big fans of the Disney Channel and we can all regularly be found watching programs like Good Luck Charlie, Jessie and Austin and Ally. It is because of this that they heard about the new original Disney made-for-TV move Teen Beach Movie and the fact that it stars Ross Lynch (Austin from Austin and Ally) means that my girls have not shut up about it. Now comes the confession..... I have watched the trailer a few times and I want to see it too.
It previews tomorrow night on the Disney channel at 6pm and I'll be watching.
Take a peek at the trailer -
I'll let you know what it is like but I fully expect to like it, over the last few months my girls and I have had many a movie night and I seem to be developing a liking for the frothy pre-teen movies!

Disney have done it again with #WreckItRalph
In February 2013 Disney will release their newest movie 'Wreck It Ralph' and in my humble opinion it will be a roaring success. Last Sunday my family and I travelled up to the Empire Leicester Square for the official multi-media preview screening of this film and it was a hit, we all loved it. From age 5 - 39, it went down a storm!
We have all come to expect a lot from Disney, especially in recent years. Films like Monsters Inc, Toy Story and Tangled have firmly established themselves as family favourites and Wreck It Ralph is sure to follow in their footsteps and become a must see movie. It will certainly be joining our family DVD library when it is released.
The storyline is incredibly inventive, as I sat there and watched I found myself saying to my husband 'who thinks these things up?'. It is just so clever. The film is set in a traditional amusement arcade and once all the customers go home and the shop door closes it is time for the characters to clock off-duty and come out to play. They travel around via their own quirky tube system through the electricity cables that plug in the gaming machines and they all meet up in Game Central Station - I just loved it!
The animation is superb and really varied too as there are so many types of arcade games featured that you get little aliens, cute girls, fighter types and everything in between. The main character of the film is of course Wreck It Ralph and we follow his journey to find acceptance and family. He no longer wishes to be the 'baddie' and there are some really simple themes in this film that will talk to your children in language they understand. It will certainly help our kids to start thinking about their actions and presents a really great talking opportunity and they can think about - is it right for any person to be excluded?, do we all have to be the same? and Is the grass really greener on the other side?
I don't want to give too much away about this film as it is so good that you must go and see it yourself. Suffice to say there is friendship, love, comedy and even a little bit of scare all bundled up as a PG rated movie.
I seriously cannot recommend this movie enough! 10/10 form our house.
Take a peek at the trailer and see if you fancy -
If you like the lookod the film, why don't you get your kids in the mood for the movie release by downloading some super colouring pictures - my kids are going to love these! There are also games they can play online too!
Disclosure: We received tickets for our family to see this film free of charge. I have not been instructed what to write and I remain honest.

Review: Disney Winnie the Pooh DVD
When I said yes to reviewing the new Winnie the Pooh film on DVD I had thought that the reviewers would be my twin 4 year old girls but I was wrong. You know who loved this film most? JJ my near 8 year old nutty boy! He summed the film up as 'great', he really enjoyed spending an afternoon on Mummy and Daddy's bed watching the DVD and chilling out. The story was good and it kept him engaged, he was made up with the ending but I won't reveal and spoil it for you!
Sadly my little twinnies have ants in their pants and they were up and down but since this first screening they have watched the rest of the film and they liked it too but in their normal style they wanted to watch it in many parts accross a few days. Whatever suits you I suppose.
I was really pleased to see that this Disney film keeps the beautiful innocence of Winnie the Pooh and it was so good to watch a children's film that did not have any adult inuendo in it.
What Disney Say:
Walt Disney Animation Studios proudly presents the wonderful new adventure, Winnie the Pooh. Return to the Hundred Acre Wood for a heartwarming original movie, and reunite with the beloved bear and his silly but steadfast friends for a magical family experience.
When sad old Eeyore loses his tail, Owl sends the whole gang – Pooh, Tigger, Rabbit, Piglet, Kanga and Roo – on a wild journey to help Eeyore and save Christopher Robin from the mysterious Backson. In the end, it turns out to be a very busy day for a bear who simply set out to find some hunny. Inspired by five stories from A.A. Milne’s books and created in Disney’s legendary, hand-drawn style, this all-new classic introduces one of the world’s most cherished characters to a whole new generation. Narrated by John Cleese and bursting with brand-new songs performed by Zooey Deschanel, this wonderfully whimsical film is a must-own for every family’s film collection.
Take a peek at the trailer:
The DVD is now on sale and I saw it was going for the bargain price of £10 at Asda at the moment. I would say this is definately something to pick up with some popcorn for this tricky last week of the school holidays.

Review & Giveaway Disney Cinderella Royal Edition DVD
If I said to you 'what is the ultimate fairy tale? Which is the story that every little girl loves and the one with the ending that makes you go ahhh?' I bet many of you would answer Cinderella.
I spent a very enjoyable hour earlier today watching the Disney DVD Cinderella Royal Edition and I have to say that us girlies all loved it! What with having our very own Royal Wedding this weekend it was super to watch this beautiful animation with my little girls. Surprising I know, but they are not familiar with the story and it was lovely watching them as they enjoyed the romance. If we are honest probably their favourite parts were those including Cinderella's friends Gus and Jaq the mice.
I'm not even going to insult you by giving you a synopsis of the story, we all remember it from our childhood and if you don't then frankly you will love the surprise.
This Royal Edition has Disney enhanced home theatre mix and that makes for a really watchable movie. I love the fact that the film stays with the original animation and because of that it holds a real innocence. The songs are superb and the singing has a Wizard of Oz quality about it, I realised today that classic movies like this had a completely different style of music to what we see today in movies.
As well as the movie there are a couple of nice music video extras on the DVD.
The DVD runs for 62 minutes and is a U certificate for general viewing. You can watch a clip of the movie here and also purchase it if you wish.
